Sheila E. has words for radio jock.

Oh Sheila's Facebook page, she discussed some interviews she did this morning:

Post 1:

I just did 10 radio stations to promote the July 25th event for Elevate Hope foundation. Thx 2 all the stations except WVKS Toledo 'Andre Z. It is sad when someone does not understand the 100,000's plus of children who have been raped or abused and how we need to help them using music.

Post 2:

He was disrespectful & I hope one day he will understand there is more to life then TMZ or asking questions that don't relate to making a difference in someone's life. What a waste of an interview. He used his time on air to degrade me which was uncalled for. I pray his heart be changed about how he speaks to artist. If this is what radio is now, I don't want to be a part of it.

Thx, prettyman. Sheila was getting ticked. I don't blame her. The people doing the interview were being rather rude and acting like little teenagers. She kept her cool but you can tell that she was getting pissed.

No problem. I understand a radio personality trying to crack jokes at the expense of the guest, but he kept pushing the issue and was really rude. That tells me how simple minded he and his crew are if they are concerned if Sheila and Prince ever "hit it" or if Prince wears his shoes while having sex. confused

Sheila has handled questions like that before with no problem. Today, the subject seemed to strike a nerve with her. Normally she can swat nonsense like that back more gracefully. The morning jocks were just doing what they are supposed to do. I thought they were funny and the interview was entertaining. I don't see any villains in this one.

"I'm not gettin' mad...dawg" lol lol lol lol lol

"What current artists do you like?"

"Prince"

biggrin

You gotta love Sheila.

They went on to roast her afterwards because they "lost" on air. These assholes are mad because they couldn't get some "exclusive" answers to some very forward questions. This mutha f*cka said "TMZ" like it was some sort of right of entitlement. He would not have asked Morris Day those questions. biggrin

That's part of the downside of a Prince association. WB created a monster with the whole "Princeworld" thing. Nobody can escape dude's shadow.

I'd like to hear him try to pose those same questions to Cindy Blackman about Lenny and see how that would go. lol She'd slap his ass through the phone lines.

Okay, here's the thing. Why would she talk to a radio station in Toledo about an event that's happening in LA? I mean, seriously. Who in Toledo is going to attend? And why would they care?

I bet that, before she got on the phone with these guys, she had no idea what their show was like. Which means she didn't do her research. That's just foolish.

Many celebs have things scheduled back-to-back. They don't all have time to "research" someone's show.

What's foolish is some second-rate, jaw-jacking DJ being rude and borderline obscene to someone he doesn't know off of some overdeveloped sense of self-entitlement just because he has a microphone in front of him.

I remember a couple of years ago, Jaheim (the R&B singer) whooped a DJ's ass for getting out of line with him.

Not everyone takes kindly to that sort of thing.

So, your rationalization is that instead of him extending the same common courtesy to Sheila as he would to somebody like...Suge Knight...she should have studied HIM like he's the celebrity and been prepared to fully discuss and disclose her past sex/love life to him at a moment's notice? :hmm2 Really? That's not really fair is it? She shouldn't have to go through hoops to get people onboard with her charity and no one's sex life should be up for discussion at the mercy of anyone else but that person.

Wow. Just jump right off the 10-meter tower into the pool of assumptions, dude. rolleyes

First of all, I never said that she was under any obligation to disclose or discuss anything she didn't want to. That's just stupid on its face. In my opinion, the second the interview got out of hand, she should have hung up. No one would have blamed her.

I also never said the guy wasn't a jerk. He was. But a little research ahead of time would have let her know what she was in for - and maybe kept her from doing an interview that wasn't going to help her or her cause.

I used to arrange these kinds of interviews for a living. (Not in the entertainment field, but in politics - which is even worse in terms of interviewers trying to ambush the newsmaker.) The scheduling of the interviews is beside the point. (Of course, she does them back to back. rolleyes ) It is the job of her people to screen the interviewers in advance - to know who they are, and what they plan to ask (if possible). It is also their job to let the interviewers know what is off limits - and that any deviation from the script will result in the immediate termination of the interview.

Her people are as much to blame as anyone for the fact that this got out of hand. Someone should have gotten fired for it.

Dude was an ass. There is no assumption about that - he made it very obvious.

Nither Sheila nor anyone in her camp (who if you knew who they were you'd know they are NOT getting fired) could or should be held responsible for his jack-assedness.

Agree. Love and have always supported Sheila but someone is a little naive if they thought she wasn't gonna get some Prince questions or a little teasing during a morning radio show. I mean how many years has she been doing interviews? I bet 90% of them mentioned or asked about Prince and their relationship. But she's shocked that some wannabe shock jock wants to go there with her? Strange publicity move.

One of the lady DJs on there said she communicated with Sheila E through email and ask her what was off limits and I guessed Sheila said nothing.

I love Sheila E and I am glad that she held it down but she should mentioned ahead what are on and off limits. Even those shock jocks are assholes at time celebrities have the final say what allow and what isnt during interview. I know that Janet Jackson have handlers working for her now keeping interviewer from asking questions about Michael and the family.

Co-Sign Sheila was promoting a charity for abused children I think the jocks can stop with the jokes for a few minutes and I doubt they would have clowned a man like that.

Never claimed the dude was smart. And yes he's probably a dick. But there are a zillion media outlets today and maybe Sheila and/or her handlers should promote "elevate hope" somewhere other than a wacky morning zoo crew in the sticks. Just sayin'.

Wouldn't Sheila's people have sent something to the station that says, "This is what I want to talk about, and here are areas that are off limits"?

This interview was about promotion, so I'd guess they did. So if the DJ didn't hit on the right topics, or went into areas Sheila had asked them not to go into, wouldn't that be on the DJ and not Sheila?

I heard the show like several times and after Sheila E left the phone, the female DJ said herself she feared that the interview will turn out like it end up did with Sheila got upset so therefore she said that she went through the interview with Sheila E and specifically asked her which questions are off-limits and Sheila E said nothing was off-limits.

The DJ is an asshole for not backing away but Sheila E been in the business longer than some of those DJs were alive. Sheila E's people should research before book this radio appearance. She knew better.

I dont understand why she went on some local Ohio radio station promoting an event that is happening in LA. I doubt not too many of the show's demographics will fly out to LA just to see her but had it been 1984 that would be a different story. She should had stick to syndicated radio shows like Michael Baisden or Steve Harvey or even Ryan Seacrest . I remember her appear on Tom Joryner awhile ago (if that is the right show) and Tom and his crew were very respectful toward her.

That was pretty bad even for morning-drive radio standards. Honestly I cant switch the station fast enough when these guys come on, and they sound exactly the same regardless the city.

Maybe I'm too old but I just listen to NPR during my morning commute to avoid this crap.

That was so cingeworthy.

I agree, and also agree with someone on a response above about swatting the guy away. These are the type of guys that are so easy to put in their place but from the get-go, she let him get under skin and they live for that.

What a bunch of tossers. I can't stand shock-jocks. Sheila handled it well. Just like she said, she'd be happy to talk about music all day long, but her sexual life? What is she some hoar or something? Quite the contrary. She's only gained more respect from me.
